Welcome sweater weather!

The cooler weather reminds us of the importance of wool. It is a renewable resource, warm, breathable, cozy, and soft to the touch. Besides that, the sheep producing it are so sweet. They make their way into your heart. Each one has a special personality. Until we had sheep, we were not aware of all of their personalities. It has been a joy to discover this part of farming.

We wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. Please remember why we celebrate this season. With all the anger and turmoil in the world we need to count our blessings.

The third Saturday Spin/Knit/Crochet In will be at the Red Barn Studio on our farm, December 18th from 10 – 3. It is a good time to join other fiber lovers and relax. Bring a project to work on or purchase one here. Show off your creativity by bringing a show and tell item. We look forward to seeing you then.

We would like to thank all of our veterans for their service to our country. This Veteran’s Day thank a veteran you know for serving.

Join the Fiber fun with other fiberistas. We will also be open November 27th from 10-3 for Small Business Saturday. We will be offering a special discount from November 20th until November 29th (Cyber Monday) both in store and online. It is 10% discount with the purchase of two items or more. Either way you are shopping local and purchasing wool products from our sheep. We thank you and our sheep thank you!

Almost May Hooray!

April flew by as we finished lambing, had shearing day and planted our garden. Whew! It has been a busy month. The farmer has been working non-stop with his many projects. Gardening is his most interesting project right now. The bees are swarming just about daily as well so the farmer’s plate is full. Our incubator is hatching for us. Never sure of the outcome of the incubator though. We will see.

Stay healthy and enjoy life. Take time to notice the beauty God has placed around us.

Welcome Spring

Spring has arrived on the farm. Most trees are in bloom or budding out. The apple trees we planted two years ago are in bloom. If we can keep the deer from eating the apples we might make some cider this year.

Lambing is just about completed. We have been lambing for about two months now. It has been hectic but satisfying. The beekeeper has been capturing swarms already.

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter! If you do not celebrate that momentous event we wish you the best Spring. God reminds us of his gifts everyday. Sometimes those gifts are disguised as work especially on the farm. Take time to enjoy this Spring and don’t forget to thank the One sends it to us.

Spring is here…we think

The weather has been up and down, typical for March. (March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.) Our lambing time is nearing the end. The bees are very busy and it will not be long until the beekeeper robs them for the honey. Our hens all want to set and have chicks. The turkeys are getting in the same mode. There is plenty to keep us all hopping.

We would like to thank everyone for their participation in Virtual Carolina FiberFest. Cannot wait for an in person event to see everyone. All the orders are on their way in case you ordered some of our fabulous fiber or yarn. Our website carries most of our products for you to order at your convenience.

We have our Spin/Knit/Crochet In this Saturday the 20th in the Red Barn Studio on our farm from 10-3. Relax with other fiber lovers. Bring a project. Share your knowledge. Learn from others. Shop in the Studio. See you then. If the weather cooperates we will have outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. If you cannot join us you can call for a special time to shop.

Here is hoping your Spring is wonderful!

News on the Farmfront

We will be participating in the virtual Carolina FiberFest March 11-14, 2021. As always you may shop through our website or connect with us through FB, Email, Instagram, Ravelry or in our Studio on the farm. We have a Spin, Knit, Crochet In on the third Saturday of each month from 10-3 on the farm in our Red Barn Studio. Fiber lovers are welcome to join us for a relaxing day out of the hustle and bustle of the everyday world.

Lambing is in full swing here. We are busier than ever building new stalls and shelters for our sheep. Spring is always a time challenge…. more work than time. Helping the mom’s teach the lambs to navigate this big world is also part of farm life.

December is here !

After a wild and woolly year, December has arrived. As my friend reminded me, notice the natural world and see that the animals just go on about their business. She said that as she sits weaving she has noticed a small snake who moves to a sunlit area in her side yard each day. He stays for a while to soak up the rays. No worries about the crazy world we are in out here. He is just doing his thing. Soon he will go into hibernation, but for now she said it is a reminder that there is more to the world than the craziness we have been seeing.

Thank you to all those who made our Small Business Saturday so memorable both in person and online. We are grateful and enjoyed the day. Our online shopping space is new to us and our customers. Check it out and hopefully you will find that special fiber you have dreamt of for your creations. Email or call if you have questions. As always we are open by appointment for you if you wish.

On the farm we are waiting for lambing to begin sometime in February. Our ladies are getting plumper by the day. The boys have done their job and are just hanging out. The yearling ewes are growing and growing more lovely. They are all growing that luscious wool we love. We are letting pastures and some pens rest for the time being. Soon the lambs will be here.
